Cherokee Places Concrete on Savannah’s New Boutique Hotel

Savannah, Georgia
Cherokee was honored to be awarded the concrete pumping on the new five-star Perry Lane Hotel in Savannah, Georgia by DPR Construction. Due to the complexity and lack of space on the project site, Cherokee Pumping, Inc. erected two 45-foot tall free- standing pedestals for its 39-meter Schwing placing boom. This allowed concrete to be placed on the two below grade three-story parking decks supporting each structure.

Once above grade, the pedestals were able to climb and complete the two separate five-story structures. Each pedestal was fed concrete by a Schwing 2000 truck mounted concrete pump for slabs, columns, and shear wall placements. Russ Aldridge was DPR’s superintendent for the 167-room boutique hotel located in the historic section of downtown Savannah, Georgia. This was the first construction project in Savannah, Georgia to utilize a concrete placing boom.
